Even I am not a big fan of beard and mustache, I still can’t help looking at these Hilarious Portraits form 2013 Just for Men National Beard & Mustache Competition, which hosted in New Orleans earlier this month. There are around 150 people from the U.S., U.K., and Canada who attended this event and competed in 17 different categories, ranging from the delicate Dali mustache to the anything-goes full beard freestyle. Wicky whiskers, bizarre sideburns, verdi beards, Fu Manchu mustaches, you probably can find all the facial hair creations you know in this competition. Thanks to the Vegas-based photographer Greg Anderson who documented this competition and bring us this spectacle facial hair show. Below is my favorite 10 portraits and if you want to see more, here is the collection.
Table is one of the most essential furniture at our home, its functional usage might be the first thing comes to your mind. Yes, we need them in various situations. That is the reason we have so many types of table: dining table, coffee table, side table, end table and etc., However, there are also one type of table which is not only a table but a piece of art collection. When you look at these table, its functionality probably the least thing you will think about. Just like the examples shown in below collection, these truly artistic sculptural tables can be a focal point at any places. Torque Desk by I M Lab This unusual metal desk titled “Torque Desk” is designed by London-based Alessandro Isola & Supriya Mankad from I M Lab as an excellent example of twisting take on a traditional formal product. The flat plane of the desk is folded to support itself at one end while seemingly resting on a stack of drawers at the other end. As the most special designs of this desk, those are rotating drawers instead of ordinary pull-out drawers. By leaving all the drawers open, the desk immediately transformed into a dynamic spatial sculpture and becomes a focal pointer at any place. Metal Octopus Table If you like marine animals and want to have unique centerpiece table catch all your guests’ attention, this incredible detailed octopus table can easily fulfill your request. Take a look at the holes, winkles tentacles and eyeballs of the octopus, they are so realistic and really impressive. However, this 500 lb. bronze, fully functional table is the work of Isaac Krauss isn’t cheap. The $100,000 price tag dooms most of us can only enjoy it on the picture. Newton Console Table This elegant black and gold table designed by Tinto-based design company Boca do Lobo is called ” Newton Console”. Made from aluminum and covered with a high-gloss varnish, this table looks like some random cluster of spheres. This highly glossy table reflects light and almost anything around it, which gives itself an extra depth and texture. Truly eye-catching! Just wonder want kind of chairs will be suitable for this masterpiece. Poised Table If your interior is in kind of rustic style and looking for a unique while simple table, take a look at this ” Poised Table”. Designed by UK designer Paul Cocksedge, this table is actually made from thousand pounds of rolled steel. As you can see from the picture below, this mind-blowing table can not only stand on its edge but hold up an adult without any other support. Pretty amazing? Liquid Glacial Table Designed by Zaha Hadid, this translucent, clear acrylic masterpiece called ” Liquid Glacial” is aimed to resemble a small glacier. The elementary geometry of the flat table top appears transformed from static to fluid by the subtle waves and ripples evident below the surface, while the table’s legs seem to pour from the horizontal in an intense vortex of water frozen in time. Having a table like that in your living room is definitely a conversation starter. Nautilus II This beautiful Nautilus shell inspired table is created by Marc Fish with the layering of over 4000 individual pieces of veneer. With the help of modern computing technology, these 4000 strips are transformed into 10mm thick logarithmic spiral following the classic order of the Golden Ratio. The table has a texture which replicates the outside of the shell, created by hand carving the fluted growth patterns. “Marbelous” Dining Table Designed by Dutch design duo Nathan Wierink and Tineke Beunders, this dining table is truly marvelous. Riddled with tracks from top to bottom, marbles can smoothly travel all the way down to the bottom and landed at its leg. It is beautiful dining table by itself and also a play-field for kids. Bird Cage Table
This wonderful “Cage Archibird” is designed by French interior architect and designer Grégroire de Laforrest. With the cage, birds have the freedom to move around and to perch upon the tree branches, both underneath and within the glass bells, while the surface of the table is also available for people to use and give a great view of bird observation. Recycle is a kind of trend in recent sculpture art.
